Forget Glenn Beck and his nutty conspiracy theories. The truth is far far more alarming.

A trail of money leads to current events in Wisconsin and other states. The New York Times spells out the trail in their article published February 21st.

According to the Times, David Koch and Charles Koch provided $40M to Americans for Prosperity who used the money to help elect the current Governor of Wisconsin.

While David Koch publicly donates millions of dollars to charitable causes like MITs cancer research center in Massachusetts, he also channels millions of dollars to conservative political organizations using front groups like “Americans for Prosperity” which is run by Tim Phillips.

The $40M dollars provided by the Koch Brothers went to fund union busting activities which, if successful, will reduce the influence of Democratic political opposition and ultimately result in less government oversight of companies like Georgia-Pacific, Invista (maker of Stainmaster Carpets), and Flint Hill Resources which are owned by the Koch Industries.

These companies pollute the environment and stand to benefit from reduced government oversight under Republican administrations.

On February 23rd, the Buffalo Beast newspaper telephoned Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker pretending to be David Koch and Scott Walker totally bought into the ruse. Walker then talked for 20 minutes with Koch as if he was speaking to his supervisor.

Scott Walker is an elected official who’s totally been bought by Koch’s millions (David Koch’s net worth is $22B). Governor Walker is a Koch minion who talks like a megalomaniac comparing himself with Ronald Reagan as if he’s charging into the history books. His true nature has been revealed. He’s a bought man who is serving his masters.

Buffalo Beast editor Ian Murphy does a masterful job, calling the Wisconsin Governor and acting like a power broker with billions of dollars to dispense. Murphy should get an acting award. He so totally hooked Walker. Links below to the phone conversation……

Strict Taliban Code

The government of Pakistan recently surrendered additional regions to control of the Taliban. One of these regions, an area in northwestern Pakistan, known as Swat, was a popular tourist destination before the Taliban arrived, imposing their strict religious code. The video link below provides a disturbing, visual example of Taliban justice. As reported by the New York Times, A 17 year old girl is publicly flogged; possibly because she left home without being accompanied by a male family member, or maybe because she refused to accept the marriage proposal of a local Taliban commander.

Rather than fight to control the Taliban, the Pakistan government has agreed to a series of ”peace deals” which the Taliban uses to gain more territory. Since 2001, the United States has provided Pakistan with $2 billion in aid for fighting the Taliban and other extremist groups and take control of northwestern territories along the border with Afganistan. However, instead of fighting the Taliban, elements of the Pakistan government have been aiding the Taliban. The Pakistan government won’t say how the $2 billion has been spent. So, it’s possible that America tax dollars are supporting the very same groups who raid across the border killing American and allied solders in Afganistan. Without knowing it, we could be paying for our own boys to be killed.

A change we can believe in?

To President Obama: Can someone other than Tom Daschle run Health and Human Services (HHS)? Your nominee for Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Geithner, didn’t pay $34,000 in taxes. And we now learn your Health and Human Services nominee Tom Daschle, didn’t pay $128,000 in taxes. What’s up? It seems like you’re losing political capital obtained during the election. Your run for the White House was based on the promise of ”Change”; meaning change has come to America; and we got that message over and over and over. To average Americans like me, the message means avoiding the appearance of tolerating special standards or the appearance of being above the law. Mr Daschle recieved $2 million from InterMedia. However, he didn’t pay the taxes until after he learned he would be a nomine. If you hadn’t nominated him, maybe he wouldn’t have ever paid the taxes. It does seem a bit sleezy. Please don’t be like the Republicans. I payed my taxes last year and it wasn’t easy. We don’t need eight more years of an “above the law” attitude from the White House. Please find another HHS nominee. There must be other qualified Americans who can run HHS while not having to defend attacks from the right on their record for paying income tax.
